BOOK TODAYPWI & UEEIV technical seminar Urban Railway: Infrastructure Engineering Tuesday 16th October 2018. Manchester Conference Centre THE DETAIL: The early 21st century is characterised by ever-growing urban populations, expansion of the “24-hour city economy”, increasing road congestion and falling average urban traffic speeds, and a clear understanding of the major health threat posed by fossil fuel exhaust gasses. Against this background we are witnessing a renaissance in rail-based, electrically powered city and urban transport systems. However, maintaining and growing the capacity of such systems in already busy and congested environments poses significant challenges to rail infrastructure engineers. This PWI/UEEIV supported conference embraces the challenges faced by engineers working across the UK and Europe and will include speakers from Manchester Metrolink, Wiener Linien, Sheffield Tram Train, London Underground, FCP (Austria), Graz University of Technology, Getzner Werkstoffe GmbH, MM Spa – Milano (Italy) and South Wales Valley Lines.
