West does best for Canoe & Campi...
Date: 7-8 August 2021
It has been a busy couple of months for the team at Auckland Bowling Coaches Association. It started in July with coaching 1-5 Year bowlers in five zones across the Auckland region. Now it is August, they have just completed the first two of their three annual events. Last weekend Canoe and Campi hit the rinks with teams formed from each of the five zones. These weren't played last season, because of you know what, so this year it was fantastic to see 34 Mens' teams compete at Bridge Park Bowls for the Canoe trophy, and 26 Womens' teams compete for the Campi trophy at Howick Bowls. So as they hit the greens, players are weighing up all the variables; weather, green speed, the opposition, choice of
bowls, game readiness. Coaches wonder how their students will fare - skill, resilience, teamwork, sportsmanship! It was two days of exciting competition to determine both winners hailed from the West. Les and Weng share how the comps unfolded read here... Good luck to all players competing in this weekend's ABCA Cup.
Canoe winners: West – Jeff Armadia, Garry Howard. Adam Blucher,
Jean-Claude Fuller.
Campi winners: West – Rachel Lawler, Jennifer Doran, Bella Barton,
Pippa Hassell.
Sadly, due to the low numbers of entries received, this event has been deferred until next season.
