Announcement

New Zealand Beauty Services needs your input and your partnership to meet the needs of our growing industry.

Skills forecasts have indicated that the industry will face strong growth in the next ten years; however, the skills in demand will be at a higher level of vocational qualification.  This poses a challenge for an industry which has a proliferation of qualifications at a similar level, and no identified pathway with a formal qualification link.

This is an ideal opportunity for all to come together to discuss and address the many issues in reviewing the national suite of qualifications and how we can make a difference.

Review of Beauty Services: Consultation Meeting

The Targeted Review of Qualifications (TRoQ) was introduced by the New Zealand Qualification Authority (NZQA) as a result of a review of the qualifications framework.  Currently there are many similar qualifications: learners, employers and industry have said it can be difficult to distinguish between them.  The aim of this review is to ensure the clarity and relevance of qualifications.  The TRoQ covers all qualifications at Levels 1–6 inclusive on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework and these have been clustered into discipline groups.

The review of the Beauty Services cluster of qualifications will be triggered on 7 April 2013.  The New Zealand Hairdressing Industry Training Organisation (HITO) is managing the review of Beauty Services qualifications on behalf of NZQA.  The NZQA Sector Relationship Manager allocated to this review is Kim Crosland and the Professional Advisor facilitating our meeting is Robyn Fitzgerald from Standards New Zealand.

The consultation meeting with stakeholders will be held:

Date: Sunday 7 April 2013
Time: 9.30 am – 4.00 pm
Venue: Wellington Airport Conference Centre, Level 2, Main Terminal
