Council to hand down Budget 2013-14

Gladstone Regional Council will hand down its 2013-14 Budget on July 1. Information on the Budget will be uploaded to Council's website on the day.

Council votes to keep fluoride in water

Fluoride will continue to be added to the Gladstone Water Supply (Lake Awoonga Scheme). The decision was made at this week's Council meeting with Councillors voting 5-4 in favour to continue the practice. Read more…

Lilly Hills Reservoir works progress at Boyne Island

Boyne Island's Lilly Hills Reservoir is scheduled for completion in mid-August.

Council's construction contractor will move off site on June 24 to make way for Council's construction crews to lay pipeline.

The contractor will then return to fill and test the reservoir and complete roadworks, drainage and fencing. Read more...

Survey identifies use of park fitness equipment

Community feedback is being sought to gain greater insight into the use of fitness equipment in public parks.

The survey is designed to ascertain user patterns throughout the Gladstone Region and provides a clear understanding of usage rates.

A short survey can be completed on Council's website and closes on Friday, July 12.

Meeting dates

Upcoming Council general meeting dates are July 2 and 16. Residents are welcome to attend from 9am at 101 Goondoon Street, Gladstone.

Speed limit changes at two locations

Speed limit reductions will occur on Auckland Street, Gladstone and Landing Road, Yarwun. The zones will alter on recommendation of Gladstone Regional Council's Speed Management Committee. A 50km/h speed limit will apply to the entire length of Auckland Street (excluding school zones). A 60km/h speed limit will be signed for a section of Landing Road at Yarwun. Read more…

Boomtown shows to entertain crowds

The Queensland Music Festival's biggest ever free community production, Boomtown, will be staged in Gladstone from July 18 to 21. Thousands will be entertained at the Marina Parklands with open-air performances. QMF, partnered by Council will tell the story of the development of Gladstone into an industrial city and features a cast of about 300 talented local performers. The alcohol free events start at 6.30pm with the public encouraged to take blankets, chairs or cushions. See more…
