New wave of dining and retail options to open their doors at Southpoint in early 2017!

Celebrity chef Neil Perry along with leading local food and dining identities are set to open their doors in Anthony John Group’s Southpoint in South Bank from February 1 2017.

Located over two levels, Southpoint’s 4,500sqm retail and dining precinct will sit directly under Flight Centre’s new global headquarters and offer a mix of casual and formal dining along with fresh food and convenience to South Bank’s burgeoning tourist, worker and resident populations.

Neil Perry’s highly anticipated Burger Project will occupy a 172sqm space on Grey Street, offering indoor/outdoor dining, breakfast, lunch and dinner options as well as a selection of premium alcoholic beverages.

Renowned coffee connoisseur Sebastian Butler-White will be expanding his hugely popular Pourboy Espresso operation on Wharf Street with Pourboy, a 188sqm space offering distinctive brews, breakfast, lunch and evening menus and indoor and outdoor seating. Pourboy will also operate as wine bar in the evenings, offering a diverse and ever changing array of boutique wines and beers.

John and Frankie Nguyen will open the fourth of their local institution Mrs Luu’s Vietnamese Canteen where they will continue to serve their cult classic French-Viet Banh Mi along with a selection of freshly made fare.

Husband and wife artisan bakers Brad and Megan Clapham, whose Le Campagne Bakery in Greenslopes has built a significant fan base and is widely regarded as one of the best in South East Queensland, will open Stone Artisan with a unique mix of specialty sourdough and decadent baked goods.

As an added convenience, Chemmart Pharmacy will operate seven days a week with the benefit of providing a selection of in-store healthcare services.

The new flagship Emporium Hotel Southpoint is set to open in early 2018.

AEG Ogden Re-appointed as Managers of Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre

The Queensland Government has re-appointed AEG Ogden as managers of the award winning Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) for five year period from 1 July 2017, together with a five year option.

AEG Ogden, the leading venue management company in the Asia Pacific with venues throughout Australia, Asia and the Middle East, has managed BCEC since its opening in 1995.

The re-appointment of AEG Ogden as venue managers, acknowledges the effectiveness of the management of the Centre which this year was voted The World’s Best Convention Centre by the International Association of Congress Centres (AIPC), in July 2016 confirming Queensland’s reputation as a world-class destination for globally recognised conferences and events.

During 21 years of successful and continuous operation, BCEC has hosted 18,000 events and 14 million guests delivering $3.87 billion in economic benefit to Queenslanders.

South Bank’s Christmas Markets
16-23 December - Presented by eatSouthBank

Offering a range of traditional Christmas gifts, keepsakes, delicious fare and ornaments accompanied by the festive sounds of live music and carollers, South Bank’s Christmas Markets make gift shopping a merry experience. Don’t miss the custom-built pedal powered Christmas Tree and delicious eats from some of South Bank’s most popular eateries. The Markets will trade from 11am-10pm daily in Stanley Street Plaza.

South Bank Christmas Carols
19-22 December - Presented by Hillsong Brisbane

Over four special nights, The Courier-Mail Piazza will come alive with concerts of Christmas carols guaranteed to have the whole family singing along! There will be a visit from Santa, a live nativity scene and twists on everyone’s favourite carols. There will be free nightly performances at 6:45pm and 8:15pm and it is recommended to arrive early to secure your seat!

Christmas Fireworks
20-23 December

At 7:45pm the electric fireworks displays will light up the night sky over four nights this December. Bring the whole family along to the Clem Jones Promenade to enjoy a dazzling array of pyrotechnics that will take you on a magical Christmas journey.

31 December

Enjoy an evening of free, family-friendly frivolity as Brisbane’s New Year’s Eve Fireworks Spectacular returns to South Bank. Featuring movie screenings, food trucks serving up sweet and savoury fare, and two glittering fireworks shows (at 8.30pm and midnight), there’s no better way to welcome in 2017.
