Study Examines Age in Male-to-Female Transgender Individuals
The ISSM congratulates Annamaria Giraldi, president-elect of the ISSM, for receiving the ISSWSH Distinguished Service Award in recognition of her years of dedication and commitment to the field of women's sexual health. The award was given at the ISSWSH/ISSM Joint Meeting "It Takes Two to Tango," held last week in Atlanta, USA.
Penile Girth Enhancement Procedures Considered Experimental
Male-to-female transgender individuals who undergo gender-affirmation surgery generally fall into two age categories, according to a recent study in Sexual Medicine.
The findings were based on a group of 40 adults who had had their penis and testes removed and had a neovagina created.
The two groups were distinguished by age of gender dysphoria onset:
Age 17 or younger
Age 18 or older
The groups differed in many ways, particularly in sexual attraction and the likelihood of being sexually active.
