The Ampilatwatja Health Centre Aboriginal Corporation have recently received an ultrasound system, kindly donated by the Medical Repurposing Network to provide their community with access to ultrasound services. As part of this, ASUM is calling out to members who may be willing to volunteer their time, skills or educational resources to provide initial training to the nurses at the health centre to support;

• Vascular access
• eFAST

• Obstetrics (POCUS)

The Ampilatwatja Health Centre Aboriginal Corporation is committed to the promotion of health, wellbeing and disease prevention without discrimination. Their specific goal is to provide and to be recognised as providing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with high quality, appropriate, efficient and effective primary health care and related services.

Whether you are able to support virtual or onsite initial Ultrasound training to the nurses, please contact outreach@asum.com.au with the potential support you can provide.

A huge thank you to the team at Canon Medical who are supporting the applications training.

SonoCPD have recently launched their online course ‘Ultrasound Guided Peripheral Intravenous Vascular Access’. Training is comprehensive and will be a great start for our Outreach support, and anyone else starting out in ultrasound looking for online content.

POCUS for Crohn’s disease – does minimum training result in quality health outcomes? and the use of simulation in ultrasound education – where is the biggest impact? Inspiration for your research journey as you consider the review of ultrasound parameters in carpal tunnel syndrome.

Second Edition of Ultrasound Physics textbook released

Image 265 * 195px

The Physics and Technology of Diagnostic Ultrasound: A Practitioner’s Guide second edition, authored by Dr Robert Gill, is now complete.

The first edition, published in 2012, was successful beyond expectations, with more than 5,000 copies sold. This edition brings the content up to date, while retaining the style and chapter structure of the first. Many sections have been rewritten, new material has been introduced and some outmoded material removed. As before, a Study Guide has been developed to complement the text.

The new editions will be available very shortly in paperback and ebook formats from Amazon, Apple, Google, other online bookshops, university bookshops and also directly from the website.
