Service Action: Pimpin' Our Ride Part Two

Way back in January we received a rather handsome piece of kit for our manual 2005 Cayenne in the shape of a supremely-tough looking bodykit. It’s gone through several revisions and much installing, painting and modifying, but the car rolled back in to the garage this week and we’re ready to show it off.

Sadly, our mature and tempered tastes kicked in for the bonnet scoops, and we decided to leave them to the cutting room floor in the name of a more sophisticated look.

We did, however, develop an Autohaus livery to give the car some flair. It’s subtle, but different, and we’re happy with how it turned out. There’s still much back and forth in the garage about the yellow pinstripes, and Grant has been seen standing, arms folded, deep in thought and pondering it from many angles, so it may yet develop. Let us know what you think!

The wheels were upgraded from the standard 18” to 21” GTSs, but we’re looking for the perfect match and they’ll be upgraded as well.

As will the handling and sound. A set of KW coilovers will be on the way soon and we’ll be putting in all of our road car and motorsport setup experience to have it bending the laws of physics confidently in the corners. And, because breathing is important and we love to make music with the loud pedal while charging through the gears in our big manual beast, it’s going to be receiving a new exhaust system.

It will be the Geelans' ride for our upcoming Tour of the Snowy Mountains, so you'll be able to check it out there, or at the garage, and chat with the crew about it and other projects like it. For now, enjoy the photos and let us know what you think in the comments and on the Facebook page.

An Update on the Autohaus Tour of the Snowy Mountains

In just under three weeks, on the third of November, we’re piling into our Porsches and heading to the Snowy Mountains to seek adventure on some of the best alpine roads New South Wales has to offer.

The response to the tour has been brilliant, and the limited available spots have become considerably more limited!

We've had one cancellation, so there is now one spot available on the tour. If you're interested in coming along give either Grant or Rob a call or send us an email as soon as possible.

Our contact number is (02) 9905 1455 and you can email us at service@autohaushamilton.com.au.

Autohaus Sales Car of the Month: 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe

1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe

This 3.2 litre 911 Carrera was built in December 1987 and first delivered by John Newell Porsche Sydney in June 1988.

It is a matching numbers car that we have known since approximately 2008, and it is a car we have previously sold, so we know it well.

In about 2009 we carried out a top end rebuild so the engine is on its second lease on life and the paint and interior are in beautiful condition.

To bring it up to scratch and prepare it for its new owner we have just completed a yearly service and comprehensive vehicle inspection.

It comes with all of its original books, including one of the best service histories you will see, with predominantly main dealer history and then Porsche specialist history.

Be quick as this is a great car and one which has already received its all important top end rebuild.

Autohaus Parts: More of That Special Something

Porsche 911s are different.  They persist in keeping the engine where no other manufacturer does: slung out beyond the back axle.  They also have a flat six engine layout, which keeps the engine low and compact.  And for longer than anybody else, Porsche continued with air cooling.  All of these things combine to give a Porsche a very distinctive engine note.

And what better way to get more of that distinctive note, than with a Dansk exhaust?  We’ve been doing a brisk trade in Sport and “regular” exhausts for 911s from short wheelbase cars to 996s.  For anything from pre-mufflers for impact bumper 911s to a Sports exhaust for a 986 Boxster 2.7 or 3.2 litre Boxster S, we can help you get more of that typical Porsche sound.
