FDA, Women to Discuss Female Sexual Health

What do women think about low sexual desire that causes them distress? And their treatment options? The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) wants to know.

On October 27th, the FDA will hold a public meeting to discuss the ways low sexual desire affects women. Participants will also share their experiences and thoughts about treatment.

Low sexual desire with distress is a common complaint for women. However, no treatments for it have been approved by the FDA.

Erectile Dysfunction - What Can Men Do When Oral Medications Don't Work?

When you think of treatment for erectile dysfunction (ED), what comes to mind? Many of us think of oral medications like Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra.

While those drugs help many men, they aren't effective for everyone. And some men cannot take them because of certain medical conditions.

Fortunately, there are other options. In our latest blog post, we discuss four of them: injections, suppositories, vacuum erection devices, and penile implants. You'll also find links to other articles about these treatments. Click here to learn more.

A woman's sexual orientation appears to influence her sexual beliefs, researchers say. Learn more.

In a recent survey, 95% of female respondents said that having one or two improved sexual experiences each month would be “meaningful” for them. What else did the women say?

Survey Asks Women About Sexual Desire

Low sexual desire accompanied by distress is fairly common in women, a recent survey says.

In fact, over 70% of the respondents said that lack of desire had caused personal problems for them.

However, most women in distress had not discussed their situation with a doctor.

Underwritten by Sprout Pharmaceuticals, the survey involved 500 women between the ages of 20 and 60.

Four hundred fifty of the women had low desire with distress. The remaining fifty did not necessarily have problems with desire.
