Further information about the additional seminars for New Reporting Standards

Further to our earlier News Alert, here's some more detailed information about the seminars being held around the country in December.

The XRB is managing the registration process for these seminars. To register for a particular seminar, simply select the relevant session below:

There was an overwhelming response to the invitation to attend seminars about the New Reporting Standards in October. Due to the strong demand, the External Reporting Board (XRB), in conjunction with Charities Services, will be running a further series of seminars in December to update Registered Charities on the accounting requirements that become mandatory in 2015.

These further seminars will be held in Gisborne, Wanganui, Invercargill, Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.

The seminars are a repeat of the seminars run in October and are aimed at Registered Charities who did NOT attend the October seminars.

About the seminars

The free, two-hour seminars are aimed at helping Registered Charities with annual operating expenditure less than $2 million. The seminars include:

  • The new legislative requirements for registered charities to follow XRB Accounting Standards from 1 April 2015

  • An overview of the Simple Format Reporting Standards

  • How the final standards differ from the proposed standards as a result of consultation with the sector during 2013 (which was the focus of the last seminar series)

  • What charities need to do now to get ready to apply the Simple Format Reporting Standards next year, and

  • Future opportunities to learn more about the standards and how to apply them.

The original News Alert mentioned some further seminars to be held throughout New Zealand next year, commencing March 2015. Invitations to these seminars will be sent at another time.
