District Court – Civil Practice Directions and CircularsThe District Court of Western Australia advises that on 13 February 2019 it consolidated its Civil Practice Directions and Circulars. The Consolidated Practice Directions and Circulars have been updated and a copy
has been published on the District Court website. The effect of publishing the Consolidated Practice Directions and Circulars is to revoke all former practice directions and circulars to practitioners.

Family Court of AustraliaThe Family Court of Australia’s Application for Consent Orders Kit information pages have been updated as a result of the Civil Law and Justice Legislation Amendment Act 2018. References to the terms
‘husband’ and ‘wife’ have also been amended to ‘party to a marriage’ and/or ‘party to a de facto relationship’. A change has also been made to the form within the kit at Q15, updating the reference to section 90XZA of the Family Law Act. The updated kit and form are now available on the website. The Court recommends using the new
‘unguided’ upload method to eFile an Application for Consent Orders, however the grace period has been extended until 31 March 2019 for the ‘guided’ eFiling option to allow for IT system changes. Information about eFiling and the ‘unguided’ process is available at www.familycourt.gov.au/dcp and details on how to apply for consent orders are available on the website at www.familycourt.gov.au/howdoi.

*To qualify for the Risk Management Discount practices must ensure that:
1. All of the Partners or Practitioner Directors and at least 80% of the employed Practitioners of the Practice have attended at least two (2) hours of Law Mutual (WA) approved risk management training during the period 1st March 2018 to 28th February 2019. 2. The Practice declares in its Application for Insurance that it has met the training requirements above and is entitled to the Risk Management Discount. 3. The Practice is able to produce, within 7 days of a written request by Law Mutual (WA), documentary proof that it has met the training requirements, such as certificates of the attendance of Practitioners at approved training. The Practice must agree that if such documentary proof is not produced to the satisfaction of Law Mutual (WA), the Practice will immediately
repay to Law Mutual (WA) the equivalent of the Risk Management Discount it received together with the GST payable thereon. Further, the Practice will not again be entitled to a Risk Management Discount until it has completed two consecutive years of training requirements. **Attendance via webinar does not qualify for Risk Management hours. ***Fees apply.

Old Supreme Court Law Library, Stirling GardensThe Law Library at the David Malcolm Justice Centre has completed the merger of the Department of Justice Library with the old Law Library at the Supreme Court Stirling Gardens and has identified excess materials that are now on offer to interested parties on a first-come-first-served basis. The surplus materials will be available for viewing by the profession during business hours from Wednesday 6, March to Friday, 8 March 2019 by appointment only. To make an appointment, please email llwa@justice.wa.gov.au or call (08) 9264 1498 by 5.00pm on 5 March 2019. In addition to the material held at the Supreme Court Stirling Gardens site, a number of full and partial sets of authorised Law Reports, legal journals, legislation, and gazettes are also available for disposal.
