5G Week - a glimpse of what we have planned next month No images? Click here UK5G Newsletter: 5G Week SpecialThere are plenty of events on the horizon: Below you will find an up-to-date list of 5G Week planned across 7th-11th September which builds on last years 5G Realised mission: to drive the business case for 5G. Hopefully you can join us for a few of them. See you online soon, Monday 7th - Rural 5G WebinarWe will have senior representatives present from DCMS and key external speakers who will give a non-technical description of 5G in the context of rural and extra-urban deployment and several case studies of rural 5G trials already underway. After the main webinar you will be able to book time slots for 1:1 discussions with speakers and other experts to talk further about the presentations given and about ways in which you can become involved in these developments. Tuesday 8th - Industrial Grade Private 5G Network for Digitization and Automation in Manufacturing and LogisticsEverybody talks about it, but what does a private campus network powered by Nokia look like, what are the tangible and intangible assets and how to use them? Join us in this interactive and very practical breakout session to learn about the technical components that build up a private campus network, how they can be installed and operated. Discussions will also cover use cases that spread across multiple locations such as production plants, warehouses, automotive test tracks, chemical plants, airports/harbours etc. Speakers include: - Thomas Hainzel, Head of EMEA Manufacturing & Logistics, Nokia Enterprise Tuesday 8th - A reality check for SDN in progress towards 5G network virtualisationThis event will open with a brief primer on SDN to explain what it is and where it has come from. There will then be two presentations exploring the use of SDN in commercial telecoms networks and the road towards its usage in wireless networks (and more specifically, virtualised 5G networks). We will hear from an organisation who have actively been deploying SDN to understand their experience of this technology in reality and the path that a telco might need to take to embrace SDN as a key component of its infrastructure, architecture and services. Our second speaker will highlight the barriers to SDN deployments in wireless telecoms networks and key obstacles that need to be overcome if SDN is to become a key component of the ideal of 5G fully virtualised networks. Wednesday 9th & Thursday 10th | 5G Realised Summit5G Realised will be focused on the demand pull that these sectors are and will increasingly be creating for 5G. Operators and vendors will come together to listen and learn about what is already happening and where. There are technology trials taking place around the world but also of great interest are the real application trials, whilst many of these are currently taking place in 4G infrastructure they are also very informative to show the gaps that 5G needs to fill. The Summit will be looking for demand requirements, putting infrastructure into places that can deliver a return like airports, industrial sites, ports and many more. 5G can offer massive productivity gains, new business generation and innovation. Talks include: - The Potential for 5G in London, Theo Blackwell MBE, Chief Digital Officer, London Other events soon to be published include...Monday 7th & Tuesday 8th: 5G and Security Friday 11th: Rapid urbanisation and the role of 5G Recent activity on UK5GOn this episode, Ros Singleton, Chair of the UK5G Advisory Board of UK5G, talks about the mission of the UK5G, its goals and current projects, applications for industrial 5G and more.
