An Update from our CEO

As we move through another busy month, this edition is a timely reminder of the strength that comes from listening, connecting and working together as a business community.

In recent weeks, Committee for Wyndham has continued to create opportunities for members to have a voice in the conversations shaping our region. Our roundtable with Mrs Bev McArthur MP, Shadow Minister for Small Business and Shadow Minister for Local Government, provided an important opportunity for members to speak directly about the business conditions, infrastructure needs and investment priorities affecting Wyndham.

As an independent and non-partisan organisation, we will continue to engage across all levels of government and all sides of politics to ensure Wyndham’s business voice is heard by those shaping policy and making decisions.

This edition also highlights the breadth of work happening across our community, from Wyndham CEC’s Second Chance Employment Forum and the upcoming Growth Corridors Conversation with Committee for Melbourne, to planning for our AGM, End of Year Celebration and 2027 events program. Each of these moments reflects the Committee’s role in bringing businesses together to focus on practical opportunities for our region.

We are also proud to celebrate the contribution of our members, including the 2026 Wyndham Business Awards finalists, Cedar Woods’ continued investment in Williams Landing, The Gordon’s Work Wise Women Program, Reclink’s work in inclusion and community connection, and the Outwest Concrete Wyndham Retro Motor Show supporting mental health services at Werribee Mercy Hospital.

As our membership community continues to grow, thank you for being part of a network committed to advocacy, connection and championing the strengths and opportunities of our region. I hope you enjoy this edition, and I look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming events.

Kind regards,

Leanne Down CEO, Committee for Wyndham

Strong Advocacy Starts with Listening to Business

On Thursday 3 September, Committee for Wyndham brought a small group of members together for a roundtable with Mrs Bev McArthur MP, Shadow Minister for Small Business and Shadow Minister for Local Government.

The discussion explored the business conditions, infrastructure needs, barriers to growth and investment priorities affecting Wyndham’s businesses and economy.

As an independent and non-partisan organisation, we engage across all levels of government and all sides of politics to ensure Wyndham’s business voice is heard by those shaping policy and making decisions.

Thank you to Mrs McArthur for listening to our members, to Reece Clarke, Liberal candidate for Werribee, for assisting with the coordination, and to our members for contributing so openly, honestly and respectfully.

This is membership in action: businesses contributing their voice to a stronger collective voice for Wyndham.

Our role at the Committee is to help connect, represent and support business operating within Wyndham.

Creating Second-Chance
Employment Pathways in Wyndham

Committee for Wyndham member Wyndham Community & Education Centre (Wyndham CEC) recently brought employers, service providers, community organisations and government together for the 'Second Chance Employment Forum – What Works and What’s Next for Wyndham'.

The forum explored practical ways to address barriers to employment for people with a criminal record, while also considering local workforce shortages and skills gaps.

Our CEO, Leanne Down, had the opportunity to be involved in the engaging forum, contributing to conversations around how employers and support services can work together to create meaningful employment pathways.

It was great to see Wyndham CEC facilitating an important conversation focused on practical solutions and greater workforce participation across Wyndham.

Our Membership Community is Growing

Committee for Wyndham is Wyndham's independent business voice, a
non-partisan, not-for-profit, membership-based organisation representing the priorities of business across the region and connecting business with decision makers.

Our work is built around three key pillars:

  • Advocate - Representing business and regional priorities with decision-makers.
  • Connect - Bringing business, government and regional leaders together through events, forums, roundtables and curated introductions.
  • Elevate & Champion - Sharing our members’ stories, achievements and contributions, while promoting the strengths and opportunities of our region.

Membership makes this work possible. It brings organisations into a trusted community of leaders committed to shaping Wyndham’s future and strengthens the collective voice we take to government and decision-makers.

Whether your organisation is based in Wyndham, operates here, employs local people or services the region, membership provides connection, visibility and the opportunity to contribute to the conversations shaping our future.

Connect with purpose. Lead with influence. Shape what’s next.

New Business Space Coming to Williams Landing

Committee for Wyndham member Cedar Woods continues to invest in the growth of Williams Landing, with its newest commercial development, Smith Works, now on sale.

Located within the Williams Landing Town Centre on the corner of Palmers Road and Charsworth Way, Smith Works will deliver a new collection of boutique office warehouses designed to support small and medium businesses looking to establish, operate and grow in Melbourne's West.

The development represents an investment of more than $22 million, with the project expected to support jobs through construction as well as ongoing employment once businesses move into the precinct.

With excellent access to Williams Landing Train Station, the Princes Freeway and the broader western region, the project is another example of continued commercial investment helping to create more opportunities for businesses and employment closer to home.

Celebrating Wyndham’s own Logan Morris

From Werribee to the AFL’s biggest stage – what an achievement for Wyndham’s Logan Morris.

Committee for Wyndham is proud to recognise former Werribee Districts junior & Spotswood player, Logan Morris, who played a remarkable role in the Brisbane Lions’ 2026 AFL Premiership victory.

With the Lions trailing late in Saturday’s Grand Final, Logan stood up when it mattered most, kicking Brisbane’s final two goals to help secure an extraordinary come-from-behind victory. He finished the game with three goals and, at just 21 years of age, is now a three-time AFL premiership player in only three seasons.

Logan’s football journey began right here in Wyndham with Werribee Districts, before progressing through the Western Jets and ultimately being drafted by Brisbane in 2023. His outstanding 2026 season also saw him earn his first All-Australian selection.

Achievements like Logan’s are something our whole community can celebrate. They showcase the incredible talent emerging from Wyndham and provide a wonderful example to young people across our region of where hard work, determination and opportunity can lead.

Congratulations Logan – an incredible achievement and a very proud moment for Wyndham.
