If you don’t currently use Google Chrome as your web browser click here to download. 1. ‘LE BURGER’ HAS SURPASSED THE BAGUETTE Hamburger sales in France have soared higher than the classic jambon-beurre sandwich as French diners surrender to the American fast-food favourite. While this trend has steadily been growing since 2000, this is the first time ‘le burger’ has surpassed the baguette. Burgers were on the menu in 85% of restaurants in France last year with a whopping 1.5 billion units sold, an increase of 9% since last year. 2. BEST FOOD CITIES IN THE WORLD Bott and Co have complied a list of the cities with the most diverse food scenes, from Italy’s premiere fashion capitals to the United States most vibrant cities. Analyzing Google Map’s restaurant data, a list of 28 cities made the cut in a bid to be the most diverse food scene. TACO BELL TORTILLA CHIPSTaco Bell is releasing a new snack food fusion this May. The fast food chain is releasing a line of flavored tortilla chips that will be available in grocery stores across the USA. The tortilla chips will be sold in three flavors, two of which ("Fire" and "Mild") are based on hot sauce packets currently available at the chain. The launch of Taco Bell’s tortilla chips follows the brand’s highly successful launch of Nacho Fries in January and the reintroduction of its Naked Egg Taco in early March. 4. A CELEBRATION OF FRENCH GASTRONOMYOn Wednesday March 21st more than 3,000 restaurants across 152 countries came together for the fourth consecutive year to celebrate French gastronomy. The event, known as Good France, is dubbed the world's largest French dinner. London, which has a greater French population than Bordeaux, celebrated in style with some of the city's top restaurants laying on special French menus as part of Good France 2018. MCDONALD’S WAGYU BURGERWith the Wagyu industry ever growing, McDonald’s Australia have launched ‘a world first’ Wagyu beef burger. The burger consists of 100% Australian bred Wagyu beef, bacon, caramelised onions, Coon cheese and a signature sauce. With a price point of $10.75, the Wagyu burger is the first ‘a la carte’ burger to exceed the $10 barrier. 6. TGI’S KITCHEN MAGICTGI Friday’s executive chef, Terry McDowell was tasked to create an inclusive menu to cater for everyone. With new meals under 600 calories and a vegan selection, TGI’s are bringing new, famously bold flavours to their consumers. The new made-to-order meals include Cajun cream pasta and crispy noodle salad, both available with chicken or prawns. But they aren’t leaving the carnivores out with their new rib tickler, a flame grilled burger topped with pork rib and coated in mustard BBQ sauce. All 82 stores across the UK will be serving up the new delights. Along with the launch of the new menu, TGI’s have announced they will donate 10,000 sets of crockery to the hunger and food waste charity FareShare. 7. LECLERC TAKES ON PARISFrance’s biggest supermarket by market share, Leclerc, is launching a home delivery service called 'Leclerc Chez Moi' (Leclerc To My Door) this month to tackle the lucrative Paris market with an ambitious three-year plan. The French retailer also aims to open click and collect stores and hypermarkets in the capital in looking to expand and compete against domestic competitors like Carrefour and Casino. Waste reduction within the food and drink sector, through ‘upcycling’ strategies and innovative methods for the recovery of materials from by-products, was the main focus of the Anuga FoodTec show, held this week in Cologne. The winning innovations from the global trade fair have been announced and they range from processing, filling and packaging technology to packaging materials, ingredients, food safety. KFC LAUNCHES 'TRIPLE CHEESE BURGER'KFC Australia are taking on the cheeseburger with their new ‘Triple Cheese’ launch. This limited-edition burger will feature an original recipe fillet, crunchy coated cheese patty (cheese and mozzarella), a cheese slice, lettuce, tomato and cheddar cheese sauce. The launch comes after KFC listened to what their customers want. This is not the first time KFC have reacted to what the public want, as back in 2015 they relaunched their popular Mashies – crusted mashed potato balls – which sold out.
