Click here Vol 32 ǀ No. 31 ǀ 16 October 2019FROM THE PRINCIPAL–––––– As we commence the last term of the year, I am reminded about the vital role we each play in helping shape the boys at our College to become fine young men. I have been reflecting on how we might exert our individual and collective influences on the boys to give them every chance to be men of whom they can be proud as well as being great ambassadors for their family as well as their College. I guess all of us desire to try and be better people. COLLEGE NOTICES–––––– SENIOR SCHOOL ATHLETICS AND CROSS-COUNTRY –––––– Parents and boys are reminded that the Athletics and Cross-Country Presentation Evening will take place on Wednesday 16 October in the College Gym. Boys are asked to arrive by no later than 7.00pm for a 7.15pm start. Boys are to ensure that they wear their full College winter uniform and have their school shoes polished. Attendance is compulsory. The College kindly requests that no car park in Hydebrae Street (which runs at ninety degrees from Francis Street and the Senior Library) at any time. Its narrowness makes resident parking difficult and non-resident parking can present a safety risk by preventing the access of emergency vehicles. The College tennis courts will be available for some on-site parking on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. Entrance to the tennis courts is from the driveway in Fraser Street and motorists are asked to park their vehicle next to another vehicle in a close fashion so that we can make available the greatest possible number of parking spaces. JUNIOR SCHOOL–––––– FROM THE ACTING DIRECTOR OF JUNIOR SCHOOL–––––– School holidays are a time for families to recharge the batteries, regroup and perhaps provide an opportunity to reflect on and experience the world around them. Students have a break from the routines and demands of school life in such varied ways. Some families travel abroad, either domestically or internationally while some stay locally and work around their commitments at home and work. The first few days back this term sees so many experiences retold, adventures explained and a chance to listen and absorb peoples excitement and happiness of how they spent their holidays. " To be challenged is to be enlightened.
