Reminder: Alberta's corporate tax rate has increased. Here's what you can do about it:
|
|
| |
As of July 1, 2015, Alberta’s corporate tax rate increased from 10% to 12%. Please ensure this change is reflected in the software you or your service providers are using to complete your corporate tax returns.
Though the corporate tax rate has increased, small business taxes remain at the current rate of 3%.
For more information about the change, see Special Notice Vol. 5, No 42, Bill 2 - An Act to Restore Fairness to Public Revenue, and FAQs.
Given your taxes have gone up, the Calgary Chamber is pleased to provide some ways you can manage it. Check out our guest blog from Deborah MacPherson, Partner, National Leader at KPMG Enterprise / Tax, as she details strategies in tax planning including:
-
Disposition of private company shares
-
Time/value of money considerations
-
Income splitting
-
Deferring tax on active business income
Read the full blog on how to use these 4 tax planning strategies to navigate the recent corporate tax increase.
