The UK’s Testbed Programme is a fantastic proving ground for our 5G future, demonstrating a range of capabilities and use cases. We’ve reached a level of maturity that we can now develop security principles at scale. This is essential to build confidence and support 5G roll out. If you have experience in this area, please do consider joining the Sub-Group, we’d love to hear from you. This is another step towards the many transformative applications for 5G technology. Autonomous vehicles and smart industry are two that particularly excite me, driven by the ability of custom private networks. My colleague Derek Long expands on this in his article ‘2020 is the year of the network native’, which sets the scene for another exciting year ahead in the UK’s 5G development.
