Last Tuesday and Wednesday, Derech Emunah students paused from their usual intensive study to enjoy each other’s company on a school retreat.
Accompanying the students were Derech Emunah’s staff members Mrs. Devora Cohen, Mrs. Aliza Genauer, and Ms. Shani Klitzner, as well as Rebbetzin Leah Weinrib.
The retreat took place over two days in a large house in the beautiful snowy hills of Suncadia, Washington.
Despite the short amount of time, the girls managed to pack in a lot of fun and inspiration. With activities such as snow-shoeing, snow-tubing, glow-in-the-dark capture the flag, a talent show, and more, the students were always on the go with another fun and action-packed activity.
From start to finish,.students with help from Madricha, Shani Klitzner arranged this fun retreat Every student was assigned a committee to be part of, and each committee planned a different aspect of the trip. Each student felt like they added something by either choosing activities, scheduling the day, buying and setting up food, or making transportation arrangements. By contributing to the success of the outing, students appreciated and enjoyed the event even more.
The theme of the retreat was “Ayin Tova,” looking at things in a positive light even when things don’t seem to be going well. Mrs. Weinrib led two engaging workshops that conveyed this message in a fun and exciting way.
The students left feeling inspired and uplifted, ready to face the new semester with a completely different attitude.
