Miller Center's largest university partnership to date made possible by SCU alumnus
by Andy Lieberman Cebu City, Philippines may not have been a top-of-mind destination for Miller Center’s largest university partnership to date, but when the University of San Carlos (USC), declared itself all-in for social entrepreneurship, Miller Center saw an amazing opportunity. Rather than starting from scratch in building their Center for Social Entrepreneurship, USC has chosen to work with Miller Center to adapt our programs to their needs. We knew going into the partnership that Miller Center’s location in Silicon Valley and global impact focus meant that our models would need to be recreated by the USC team to fit into the context of their university and their focus on the Central Visayas region of the Philippines. GSBI alum Banka BioLoo raises $2M in IPO
by Ashley Ricks 2015 GSBI® alumnus Banka BioLoo, a social enterprise that innovatively tackles human waste management, had its Initial Public Offering (IPO) on February 5, 2018. ASSET-BASED FINANCING | Alum Sistema.bio (GSBI In Residence 2014, Replication 2017) discovers that becoming a lender proves to be a competitive advantage over other biogas companies. GOOD LUCK! | Join us as we cheer on 2017 GSBI alum Kad Africa as they compete for the Nestlé Shared Value Prize. Nearly 1,100 applicants entered the challenge in October 2017. Now one of six finalists, the Kad Africa team will be in Brazil for the competition this week. You can watch the competition live on Facebook on March 16 (from 5:15 pm GMT -3 hours).
