What Happens in Your Brain During Orgasm?

It's easy to think of orgasm in purely physical terms.  We feel pleasurable sensations in our genitals, our breathing quickens, and our heart rate increases until that final moment of release.  But there's a lot going on behind the scenes in our brains as well.

In our latest blog post, we discuss the role of the brain in orgasm, including the way it uses our nervous system to transmit messages and the chemicals it produces. We also offer some tips if you're unable to reach orgasm.

Testosterone Injections Not as Safe as Patches or Gels

Testosterone therapy can be given in several ways.  Some men apply a gel to their skin. Others wear a patch that is changed regularly. Injections are another option - either at home or at the doctor's office. 

Scientists from the U.S. and Switzerland wondered about the safety of each delivery method. After analyzing data from over 500,000 men, they found that men who had injections had higher rates of cardiovascular events like heart attacks and stroke.

Menopause and Sexual Function

If you or your partner have been through menopause, you might be familiar some of the sexual effects, like vaginal dryness or decreased sex drive.

Recently, a team of researchers from the U.S. and Europe investigated how women's sexual function changes over time. 

Interestingly, they found that both pre- and postmenopausal women developed sexual problems at similar rates over four years.
