Pre-eminent health researcher's keynote address kicks off Forum on innovative future directions for Sax Institute's 45 and Up Study
Professor Ian Frazer, who is chair of the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) advisory board, outlined the progress of the MRFF and said Australia could benefit from the establishment of an independent, national institute to oversee health research, in his wide-ranging address to the 45 and Up Study Annual Forum in Sydney this month.

Indigenous health successes and challenges in the spotlight in latest issue of Public Health Research & Practice

This special issue of our journal explores Indigenous health, 50 years since the 1967 referendum resulted in citizenship and voting rights. Articles include a paper that warns about tobacco's lethal legacy, with the number of smoking-related deaths among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians predicted to continue to increase and to peak over the next decade, despite progress in reducing smoking.
