It's time for the NDP to take a new approach to job creation

It's time for the NDP to take a new approach to job creation

As the Alberta Government prepares to deliver the Speech from the Throne in Edmonton today, the Chamber is pleased to note that the government appears willing to reassess the ineffective Job Creation Incentive Program, and consider new approaches to support job creation in our province.

As an alternative, we strongly encourage our provincial government to take a serious look at implementing the Alberta Growth Incentive, a targeted investor tax credit that not only has the potential to support the growth of jobs and our economy, but has also been proven to work by its success in other provinces.

Read our latest blog to learn about the case for the Alberta Growth Incentive.

Digital tip: Why CEOs should use social media – and why they need to do it well

Digital tip: Why CEOs should use social media – and why they need to do it well

These days, it’s a rarity to find someone who’s not on Facebook—unless that someone happens to be a CEO. According to a new analysis from CEO.com, a full 61% of the heads of the planet’s most powerful companies have no social media presence at all. Even those who are on Twitter, Facebook, and other networks rarely join the conversation.

Consumer trends, meanwhile are heading in exactly the opposite direction. So for CEOs, this begs the question: Social media is where your customers are—shouldn’t you be there, too? Social media, used correctly, can be an executive productivity tool, a global broadcast channel, a source of consumer and competitor intel, and a PR vehicle.

Read this Fast Company article to learn the top three reasons why CEOs need to be using social media.
