Calliope Crossroads traffic change planned on Dec 19

Major changes will occur at the Calliope Crossroads late on December 19 as the Federal Government upgrade nears the final stages of construction.

New traffic arrangements will operate with the introduction of signalised intersections on the Dawson Highway approaches.

The upgrade also incorporates new pedestrian and cycle paths.
Motorists are advised that the intersection will be fully operational but will remain an active construction zone into 2014. Read more…

Council approves private school at Agnes Water

The first stage of a private school at Agnes Water was approved at Gladstone Regional Council's December 17 general meeting.

The school will be located on a 39.6 hectare site on Round Hill Road.

Stage One works include four general classrooms, a science classroom, home economics classroom, art room and library along with an administrative building, amenities block and various outdoor play areas.

A vocational education and training centre and integrated car parking on the Round Hill Road frontage will also be constructed.

The applicant, Captain Cook Holdings, indicated the school will likely open with Grades 4-7 inclusive.

Road condition signs are operational at two locations

Residents and motorists in southern parts of the region can now gain road condition information at a glance.

Two electronic flood warning signs are operational south of Miriam Vale on Fingerboard Road and on Round Hill Road, Agnes Water.

The signs monitored by Transport and Main Roads via wireless network connection provide advance warning of whether roads are open or closed. Read more…
