People With Dementia May Still Be Sexually Active
Sexual activity doesn't necessarily decline with cognitive impairment, a new study reports.
The study involved 3,196 men and women between the ages of 62 and 91. A subgroup of 579 people had dementia.
In the dementia group, 46% of the men and 18% of the women had had sex with a partner during the previous year. Participants with partners were more likely to be sexually active.
The study was published in October in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society. For more information about the study, aging, and sex, please click here.
