Welcome to this issue of Meee Moments. We hope it brings you ideas and inspiration for how you can create moments that help you to keep going, to take flight and to soar. Let's March! One of the Meee team took part in a presenting course, recently, and was inspired by one of the techniques. When you want your audience to take action, inspire them with both your words and your presence, inspire them to ‘march’ with you. It doesn’t have to be in a formal presentation, it could be in everyday conversations or a written communication. March is the first month of Spring, which begins between the 19th and 21st. Spring into action, use this presentation technique and make a difference with your moments. *On a standard English language keyboard, the fingers of the left hand are intended to be placed on the A S D and F keys of the middle row. This positioning assigns the left hand to all of the following letters: Q W E R T A S D F G Z X C V and B. These letters can be used to spell a variety of long words, including Stewardesses. Take flightApparently, one of the longest English language words you can type on a Qwerty Keyboard with your left hand* is Stewardesses. A steward is a person whose job it is to help people at a particular place or event. Why not become your own steward and help yourself? Take the time to focus on you and what it is you want to achieve in your life. Put your own plans into place, look after yourself and watch yourself soar. Joy in welliesWe love the word ‘Joy’ at Meee, and believe that we should try to find the joy in every day and in everything. We know it’s not always easy. Some days you just have a pebble in your shoe. We met a client recently and spent time sharing our stories. Our client showed us a video of her son splashing about in a muddy puddle in his wellies, having the most wonderful time. Is it time to get out your wellies and have more muddy moments? “Wish you were here”The Meee team recently reviewed their top 5 values via our ‘Values Card Exercise’. One of the chosen values was ‘Connected - attached, joined, secure’. Being connected could be with people or to a cause or interest that is important to you. To live this value, we could make a plan to reach out to our contacts, sending a text message, email or go old school and send a simple postcard or letter. Imagine being on the receiving end of a lovely gesture like that. It would make you feel important. It would make you smile. Just imagine the ripple effect it could make. Take a moment to think about your values, and what is important to you. Then ask yourself if you are living them.
What’s cooking?Ingredients are the component parts or elements of a mixture. This could be a recipe to make a tasty dish, or the resources of an organisation. Think about your ingredients - what elements are part of you, what makes you special? Everyone is unique and has their own magical ingredients - are you making the most of your recipe? Disney magicWe love Disney at Meee, there are so many inspirational films with life affirming messages. Sid loves the film ‘Frozen’ and sometimes uses the phrase ‘let it go’ when in conversation with people who are experiencing some stressful times. We know this isn’t always easy. But when you are having a difficult time, be kind to yourself and think about small steps you can take to either lessen or remove the issue. This video is a powerful reminder. * This moment was taken from the Instagram account of Dr Julie Smith, Clinical Psychologist Be KindWhen you have a mental health problem, your mind convinces you that you're the only one. But it's a natural part of being human, so whether you're with family, friends or colleagues, the likelihood is, a few of those people, at some point in their lives, are also going to struggle with their mental health. So even if you're not struggling, the chances are you will brush shoulders with someone who is, so be kind.* HyggeHygge, pronounced "hoo-ga," is a Danish and Norwegian word for a mood of cosiness. It can't really be reduced to a single word, but includes a sense of warm satisfaction and well-being derived from enjoying the little pleasures in life; creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people. The warm glow of candlelight is hygge. A steaming cup of hot coffee on a cold day is hygge. Curling up in a soft blanket in front of the fire reading your favourite book is hygge. We all need more hygge in our lives. So, try to have some you-time every day and make it as hygge as possible. Sid and Paula are speaking at The PA Show on the 8 March, the premier event for the Executive Support industry. There will also be a Meee stand, where people can find out more about what we do and how we help people find their magic. You can also register for free to attend the exhibition and Keynote Theatre. Thank you, as always, for being a part of the Meee community and allowing us to share our monthly thoughts. We would love to hear back from you, so please do feel free to drop us a line. Tell us about your favourite Hygge moments. Send us a photo of you having a muddy moment. Or let us know what you've been doing to adjust your wings and soar. You can contact us through email, Twitter, Facebook or via our Podcast. With love, kindness and joy xxx |
