The first of the Synod Expos was held last Saturday, 18th September at Adelaide West. It was a great day of sharing and interaction for the church. Principle 5 of Child Safe Organisations is all about seeking to ensure that ‘their people are suitable to work with children and committed to child safety and well-being.’ Summed up as ‘recruiting and screening.’ When recruiting, whether volunteers or staff, it is best to be cautious.

Anti-Poverty Week 17-23 October 2021

Every community in SA has children, young people and families enduring financial stress and poverty. This year due to the impacts of COVID, responding to poverty and hardship must take on an even greater priority. Helen Connolly, Commissioner for Children and Young People has written to churches seeking support.

Red Dove Cafe

In early September, the Henley Fulham congregation gave a gold coin donation (or more) towards a delicious Devonshire morning tea after church. Funds raised ($930!) will go towards mission projects of the Red Dove Cafe. Thank you to everyone, particularly Bob and Chris Fuss.

An Afternoon of Music & Poetry in a Garden

The Christ Church Uniting Gardening Group is hosting an afternoon of music and poetry in Turlatina Wirra – Peaceful Garden.The band is Vagaband and poets include Jude Aquilina, Louise Nicholas, Judy Dally, Jen Liston and Belinda Broughton. This event is part of Nature Week and supports refugees and asylum seekers.

Prayer Points

This week we pray for:

  • For world leaders that they may have the wisdom to ensure on-going peace for all
  • For all people struggling to cope with violence, discrimination and persecution
  • And as we acknowledge this International Day of Peace, may we all find healing, restoration and reconciliation.
