Click here Angel of God, my Guardian dear, TERM 2 WEEK 1 - 29 APRIL 2020 PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGEDear Parents, Thank you for your discernment in using the information provided by the school and Catholic Education system in regards to your children’s learning for the first four weeks of Term 2. A letter is being sent home today from Dr Debra Sayce, Executive Director of Catholic Education, clarifying the position of Catholic Education in its commitment to meeting the educational needs of all students. It is unfortunate that some misinformation around all Catholic School's opening for second term and the mode of learning on offer has overshadowed the incredible work undertaken for all. We are open for business and fully respectful of parental decision to send their children back to school or to continue home learning. Whilst Catholic Schools do not have access to the extra funds for cleaners and teachers we have an incredible staff who have undertaken to meet the cleaning requirements for a safe school. We are very excited to launch our full home learning work prepared by teachers last term and is now available on our new website. As all of this is very new to our teachers, students and parents we will be seeking feedback on what is working well and what needs adjusting. Teachers spent a significant part of yesterday reviewing assessment and feedback strategies for our current remote learning context. This was to ensure students receive ongoing and descriptive feedback on their learning and teachers are able to gather assessment data on students. We will be sending a survey link to parents Friday afternoon to gather this important feedback. Our tradition for the start of term is to gather and celebrate Mass in our Parish. We will continue this tradition albeit in a different format. Our Parish Priest Father Hyginus has welcomed the idea of celebrating a ‘Whole School Online Mass’ next Wednesday at 9.30am. Children will celebrate Mass in the safety of their classrooms on the BenQ’s kindly previously donated by our P&F Association. Families are very welcome to ‘join’ us at 9.30am as we celebrate the start of Term 2 and thank God for the many gifts God has given us in our families, our school and our community. If you wish to join us in celebrating Mass, please register your details here. This connection will also enable you and your family to celebrate Mass each Sunday morning at 9.30am with Father Hyginus. A big thank you to Father Hyginus for joining us in welcoming the children back this morning. Thank you for the many messages from parents acknowledging the smooth drop off and pick up today. Having all staff out from 8am – 8.30am to receive children is a big task and I thank all staff at OLG who were able to help. We welcomed our children learning at home with our Seesaw messages, online Class Check-ins and our instagram/facebook video ‘greeting from the gate’. All in all we are very pleased to be connecting again with all of our children at school or at home and look forward to some quality teaching and learning this term. God Bless, Gabrielle Doyle We acknowledge the original custodians of this land, the Nyungar people, and show our respect for their ancestors and traditions. Our Lady of Grace School |
