Legislative Update: It’s First Deadline Week
After one month of meeting, the legislature is beginning to winnow the range of issues that will be discussed. Policy bills must pass out of committee in at least one chamber of the legislature by midnight on Thursday if they are to continue to progress during the 2018 legislative session. Second deadline, in which the bill must pass out of committee in the second chamber, is Thursday, March 29. Click below to read more on where our housing priorities stand.
Housing Day at the Capitol a Success
More than 300 members of the housing industry came out for Housing Day at the Capitol. In total, the contingency met with over 160 of the 201 legislators, over 80% of the legislature! Issues discussed included the skilled labor shortage, regulatory burden and the affordable inventory shortage.
Gubernatorial Candidates Discussing Skilled Trades & Vocational Schools
As the governor's race heats up we're learning more about where each candidate stands on the issues. One of the issues that seems to unite the candidates is the need for a stronger emphasis of skilled trades and promotion of vocational education in high schools.
