Park development input sought

Community input is being sought on a proposed new design for Miriam Vale's Lions Park. The redevelopment aims to improve park layout with facilities to encourage greater use for community events and family gatherings.The proposal includes renaming the park after Alf Larson, in recognition of the former life-long Miriam Vale resident, long-term store owner and Miriam Vale Shire Councillor. Community Visioning Session planned

Agnes Water/Seventeen Seventy residents are invited to attend a Community Visioning Session at the Agnes Water Community Centre, 71 Springs Road, Agnes Water on Wednesday, May 29 from 5.30pm to 8pm. Kick back at Ubobo Bush Festival in June

Head to the Boyne Valley to celebrate Queensland Week 2013 at the Ubobo Bush Festival on June 8. Admission to the festival is free; with a small fee for the GAWB Ubobo Fun Run. Camping and accommodation is available with a return-trip bus service on the day. Read more...

Time to get ready for this year's Ecofest activities

The countdown is on with only 10 days remaining until the region's largest environmental awareness event, Ecofest.

Coinciding with World Environment Day, Gladstone Tondoon Botanic Gardens will provide an ideal backdrop for the environmental spectacular on Sunday, June 2 from 9am to 3pm.

In a first this year, the event will also incorporate a GREAN (Gladstone Region Environmental Advisory Network) Forum, on Saturday, June 1.

Share your views on $40m Philip Street precinct

Residents are invited to have their say on the proposed $40 million Philip Street Communities Precinct development.

This project is contingent on Council securing funding from sources other than Council borrowings or general rates.

If developed, the precinct will include a 200-unit retirement village, 60 residential allotments and a new child and family centre.

Upcoming Council general meeting dates are June 4 and June 18. Residents are welcome to attend from 9am at 101 Goondoon Street, Gladstone.

Council sets future direction

The future direction of Gladstone Region Council has been set with the recent adoption of the 2013|2017 Corporate Plan. The plan sets out Council's vision and goals for the next five years, with a focus on meeting the needs of our growing population reliably and equitably.

Extensive regional footpath upgrades

More than $360,000 of footpath upgrades will be carried out from now until the end of June. Works include sections along Calliope's Bloomfield Street and Don Cameron Drive, Tannum Sands Road and Gladstone's Dixon Drive. Read more...

Recycle televisions and computers

Undamaged televisions and computers which are no longer needed (known as e-waste) can now be delivered to free, designated Council drop off and recycling collection areas at waste management facilities at Gladstone, Benaraby and Agnes Water. Read more...
