In response to government changes and taxation advice, the University has converted the 60-day COVID-19 Special Leave provision to a 60-day Candidature and Scholarship Extension. This means that students who are presently in receipt of a University-funded stipend scholarship whose research is heavily affected by the current circumstances can apply for up to 60 calendar days COVID-19 Extension of their scholarship at the current rate applicable. I encourage you to read the information available on our FAQ website and on the actual application form as we are receiving a huge amount of enquiries and applications that we are processing as soon as possible. As the pandemic continues to bring a heightened degree of uncertainty, stress and anxiety, we are working with Student Life and Counselling Services on offerings for HDR students. Please have a look at the recording of a Q&A session What’s stressing you out? and watch out for future invitations to meditation webinars and alike. While we are all in home office, I would like to ask students who are submitting their theses to send a funny submission photo through of yourself so that we can celebrate your great achievement via Twitter @GradCentreUofA and post on the submission gallery page on our website. Finally, over the last couple of days I have attended a few HDR Zoom catch-ups which has been lots of fun, and I am happy to Zoom-bomb your meetings if you would like to ask any Covid-19-related questions and anything regarding the AGC’s activities and measures, just let me know. Take care and stay safe, Doreen Krumbiegel Tip of the Month: Help us help you! We won’t need to spend time working out which of the Smith’s, Nguyen’s, Williams’ or Wang’s you are, instead, we can spend that time helping you! There is no need to type out your details every time, simply create a signature file that contains all your contact information. ITDS have produced a step-by-step guide on how to do this and here is a suggested format you can copy: Prefix, First Name, Family Name 2020 Mid-Year Research Scholarship RoundApplications for the Mid-Year Scholarship Round are now open.
