COVID-19 Update – Thursday, 9 April It has come to our attention that a part-time student in our School of Building Construction has tested positive for COVID-19. The student informed us today that he tested positive on Monday 6 April, but he had not been on campus for 18 days prior to that (more than the notified 14-day incubation period). Public health authorities have not indicated that they need to carry out any contact tracing because of the time that has lapsed since our student has been in class, therefore we take it to be low risk. However, in line with the advice we’ve offered since the outbreak of COVID-19 in New Zealand, we would urge anyone who has been unwell with flu-like symptoms to contact their GP or Healthline on 0800 3585453 so they can be assessed at a community-based assessment centre. Our thoughts are with the student and his family and we are sure you will all join us in wishing him a speedy recovery. Our Student Success team is in contact with him and will be arranging for a care package to be sent to him and his family. As we go into mid-semester break, we’re working on the basis that further online teaching will continue and we'll provide you with an update on this mid-next week. We do hope you find creative ways to relax over the Easter break in your respective bubbles and please continue to look after yourself and stay connected. Ngā mihi nui |
