IRELAND'S GRASS-FED STANDARD Bord Bia, Ireland’s national food board, has launched a new independently verified Grass-Fed Standard that sets a higher benchmark for beef. Ireland is internationally recognised for its quality beef and commitment to open pasture grazing. The new Grass-Fed Standard ensures cattle graze a minimum of 90% grass and grass-based forage and average 220 days per year in open pastures. Research by Ernst & Young shows over 50% of consumers globally prefer grass-fed beef and 64% said they would pay more for it. 2. COUNT EMISSIONS, NOT CALORIESJust like customers might count calories, they will now be able to count greenhouse gas emissions from their meal at Panera Bread. In collaboration with the World Resources Institute, the chain will begin labelling climate-friendly choices on its menu. Meals with less than 5.38kg of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) are recognised with a “Cool Food Meal” badge so customers have the option to make conscious choices. Another chain, Just Salad, introduced a 'Climatarian Menu’ in September and Unilever plans to add carbon footprint to its product labels as well. 4. CHIPOTLE'S HALLOWEEN BOORITOChipotle Mexican Grill’s Halloween Boorito promotion is going virtual this year with a limited amount of buy one-get one (BOGO) codes available through social media channels. In previous years, the chain celebrated Boorito promotions with discounted offerings for customers wearing costumes so this became another promotion to shift from in-person to digital. 5.
