Welcome!

Dear Readers,

To better be able to serve you during the summer, we are switching to sending out these newsletters bi-weekly during the summer months. We will still be bringing you relevant information, but will do so a little less frequently. You can still schedule meetings with us.

Stay Connected!

We have set up 2 new Canvas modules for current students and alumni to be able to stay connected with one another during the application process, and to allow you to watch our pre-recorded group advising sessions.

Join our Health Professions School Applicants Networking Space to ask & answer questions about any part of the application process. We want this to be  a safe place for our Penn State applicants to have open and honest discussions about their candidacy.

Join our PreHealth Group Advising module to learn about preparing for a career in your chosen health profession, and gain access to the pre-health advising team.

An early application is strategic, please plan to apply as soon as you are ready. Remember, you do not need your exam scores or letters of recommendation to submit your primary application.

AADSAS Delays

The uncertainty and shutdowns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic have compounded the pressure of applying to dental school. Thus, to support applicants and our dental schools, while the application opens today, May 12, as scheduled, ADEA AADSAS® (ADEA Associated American Dental School Application Service) will begin accepting applicant submissions on June 16. This is a two-week extension from the planned submission date of June 2. Applicants are encouraged to use the subsequent five weeks to complete all sections and provide materials, such as transcripts and test scores.

This change also modifies the Fee Assistance Program (FAP) notification date to June 16. Other dates may be affected, including the Academic Update, the Dec. 1 Decision Date and individual school application deadlines. Applicants will receive updates via email throughout the cycle as date changes are announced. Meanwhile, applicants, as well as family members and advisors, can also view updates on ADEA GoDental.

FREE full-length practice MCAT through Altius

Altius has created a Full-Length COVID-19 MCAT Exam that reflects 100% of the COVID-related changes to the exam. This tool is available to your students free of charge, and will give them much-needed practice with the new exam timing and format.

For those who want more practice, all 10 of our MCAT practice exams are now available in both the standard and COVID-19 formats.

We've also prepared this COVID-19 Fact Sheet to help all stakeholders understand the changes to the exam.
