Book the date: find out about far-reaching regulatory change on 21 June

REACH, the new regulations governing the way in which chemicals can be packaged, sold and used in the cleaning and hygiene industry, is now in force.

According to those who have been working with the new regulations, they are business critical.

In partnership with the BACS we are hosting a conference for you to explain the regulations and their impact on your business.

A speaker from the British Pest Control Association will explain the wide-ranging impact the regulations have already had in their industry, which is about three years ahead of the cleaning and hygiene industry in terms of implementation.

The conference is taking place on 21 June at the Lea Marston Hotel, just off Junction 9 of the M42.

Email the Secretariat now to reserve your place.

The CHSA – dedicated to driving up standards

“Our aim is to drive up standards in the industry,” said Stephen Harrison, Chairman of the Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association (CHSA) and Managing Director of Harrison Wipes.  “We’re run by our members for our members and it’s their determination which is behind this focus.”

“Some purchasers buy on price but the evidence we have shows this is a false economy,” continued Stephen.  “On many occasions we’ve found soft tissue products to be significantly deficient in length or width and plastic sacks and cotton mops that don’t meet the specifications on the box.  Our mission is to stamp this out.”

Resolutely focused on standards

Our new advertising campaign is live. Reflecting the fresh new look of our website, the campaign is shouting out our commitment to standards.  We're making it clear the only way buyers of cleaning and hygiene products can be certain they are purchasing from an ethical business committed to driving up standards is to buy from a CHSA member.

We're also focusing on the positive impact of our Accreditation Schemes.  Specifying Accredited product is the only way buyers of soft tissue, plastic refuse sacks and industrial cotton mops can be certain what's on the box is in the box.

The campaign is being run across the cleaning and facilities management media.  Check out CleanZine, and page 31 of Cleaning Matters.

Seeking auction prizes

Our Gala Ball, taking place at Heythrop Park, Enstone, Oxfordshire, OX7 5UE on Friday 20 May, is a sell out!

During the evening we're holding a Charity Auction in aid of the Chairman's charity, The Helping Treat Cancer Together Committee.

Last year we raised £8,500 for the charity, a total we want to top in 2016!  We're seeking items to auction.  Have you got something great we can put 'under the hammer'?

Please contact the Scretariat if you have something we can auction.

Check your entry on our website

Our new website went live at the end of 2015.

As well as promoting the Association, it's a great platform for promoting our members.  Buyers seeking a manufacturer of cleaning and hygiene products can now search the members directory by product or specific company, and for distributors it is also possible to search by location.

Please check your company's entry and let us know of any changes; we can action these straight away.  If you have not yet provided information, please do so and we'll make sure your details are on the site.  Email Cathy Connan with your information.

The ‘Northern Powerhouse’ needed its own Cleaning Show

And now it has one! Taking place on 6th and 7th April, Manchester Cleaning Show will be a long awaited event, held appropriately enough at the modern Event City venue, Manchester.

With what has been described as the ‘first serious cleaning show in Manchester for 25 years’ on the horizon, the organisers, Quartz, ask can you afford to let it pass you by?

The show is being supported by Greyland.

“We are expecting many existing distributors from all over Northern England, the Midlands, Wales, and maybe some from Scotland and perhaps even the South of England too”, says Greyland’s Richard Dyson.
