LATEST NEWSA/Prof Kerrie McDonald new Cure Brain Cancer CEO Congratulations to A/Prof Kerrie McDonald, announced as CEO of Cure Brain Cancer Foundation. A prominent scientist and brain cancer research, Kerrie is a tireless and passionate crusader for better outcomes for brain cancer patients. Almost – It’s Shock And ROR The TCRN is pleased to announce the recipient of the Major Pilot Funding Grant, A/Prof Caroline Ford. The project 'Shock and ROR: A New Approach to Treat Aggressive Ovarian and Endometrial Cancer', is on the verge of forcing gynaecological cancers into submission. Funding success for Garvan researchers Garvan Institute researchers secured six Project Grants awarded by the National Breast Cancer Foundation. TCRN Grant Recipient: Ghazal Sultani Meet Dr Ghazal Sultani, who will be attending the 25th Biennial Congress of the European Association for Cancer Research in July thanks to a TCRN Conference and Professional Development grant. Global study predicts more than 50% rise in chemotherapy demand by 2040 More than 15 million people each year will need chemotherapy by 2040, a landmark study published by CONCERT and TCRN researchers has shown. GRANTSHCF Research Foundation - Health services research grants The HCF Research Foundation is making its 9th annual call for research projects to deliver $1 million in funding to the research community in health care areas that provide opportunity to significantly improve health services. Previous awards ranged in value from $80,000 to $275,000. Deadline: 27 June 2019 Ovarian Cancer trial funding The OASIS grant round is now open. OASIS provides support and funding for innovative signal-seeking Phase II trials in well-defined subsets of patients with recurrent ovarian cancer. Deadline: 8 July 2019 US Dept of Defence - Melanoma Research Program (MRP) The MRP challenges the research community to prevent melanoma earlier in the disease cycle thus preventing metastasis. Pre-Application Deadline: 26 July 2019 CSL Centenary Fellowships Fellowships of up to $250,000 of up to five years provide for a full-time salary (generally equivalent to a Senior Research Fellow C1 level) plus research costs and/or a post-doctoral research assistant. These are competitively-selected grants offered to early- to mid-career (4-10 years post-doctoral) medical researchers. Cicada MedLab Cicada MedLab is a 12-week, mentor-driven accelerator program for early-stage founders who are building high-growth, disruptive medtech businesses. MedLab provides startups with the tools they need to successfully grow and scale a medtech business. Deadline: 16 June 2019 Cancer Community Panel Evening CONCERT and the Ingham Institute are fortunate to have an excellent panel who generously provide their time, knowledge and expertise to assist researchers on their project applications to major funding bodies, which ensures research will meet the needs of those affected by cancer. Dates have been coordinated to coincide with major grant application minimum data and close dates. It was formed to create an innovative and supportive environment for the translation of cancer research into improvements in patient care. CONCERT The Centre for Oncology Education, Research and Training (CONCERT) is a translational research centre program funded by the Cancer Insitute NSW. CONCERT exists to bring together the knowledge and expertise of cancer health professionals and researchers to facilitate translation of research generated evidence into practice to achieve better outcomes for those affected by cancer. Cancer CAG The Cancer Clinical Academic Group (Cancer CAG) brings together clinicians and researchers from three universities, four cancer services (with six major treatment facilities) and three Medical Research Institutes. Our combined research strength spans the translational medicine spectrum of bench to bedside and health service delivery.
