PINOLE, CA — On October 16, the San Francisco Chronicle became the second mainstream Bay Area newspaper to endorse BART Director Zakhary Mallett's re-election candidacy.  The Chronicle's endorsement reads, in part, “Zakhary Mallett was elected four years ago at age 25, and he has proved to be exactly what the board needed: someone who has been willing to challenge the union’s work rules and generous compensation packages that undermine the interests of riders."  You can access the full article here.

On September 21, the East Bay Times also endorsed Mallett's re-election candidacy.  He was, in fact, the only incumbent BART Director endorsed by the East Bay Times.  The Times said "re-elect Zakhary Mallett, who has been a principled voice for reason on an otherwise fiscally reckless board."  Access the full article here.
