Day-Use Reservation System Update
Late last month, Yosemite announced that day-use reservations will not be required after October 31. Acting Superintendent Cicely Muldoon offered gratitude “to all park visitors and our local communities for their support of modified operations this summer.” NPS continues to urge visitors to follow CDC guidelines on staying safe during the pandemic. In other park news, Yosemite employee Ansley Singer (who, among many other things, helps keep the Yosemite Bike Share rolling) was honored with the Barry Hance Memorial Award – congratulations, Ansley!

A “Special Message” for Conservancy Supporters
One of the oldest rustic stone structures in a national park, the Parsons Memorial Lodge was built in Tuolumne Meadows in 1915. The donor-funded Parsons Memorial Lodge Summer Series celebrates conservation through art, music, history and more. The series went virtual in 2020 — and that means you can catch the presentations from wherever you are. Here’s the best part: celebrated poet Jane Hirshfield and musician Shira Kammen filmed an exclusive reading just for Yosemite Conservancy supporters. First shared during a virtual donor event in September, it is now available on our YouTube channel. Enjoy!

Planting for Pollinators
Not long ago, some of Yosemite’s prime pollinator areas had become “fly-over territory,” devoid of shelter and nutrition for bees and butterflies. Invasive plants, such as cheatgrass and Himalayan blackberry, had displaced milkweed and other native vegetation. For several years, with your support, restoration crews and volunteers have been reviving pollinator habitat in the Valley, including in Ahwahnee and Cook’s meadows, near the Rangers’ Club, and at Cascade Falls. Learn more on the blog! (This photo of Conservancy volunteers planting in Yosemite Valley was taken pre-pandemic, in October 2019.)
