The Script Sessions

THE SCRIPT SESSIONS

The Script Sessions is a program of intensive one-day script workshops with professional screen writing Editor and Analyst, Karel Segers slicing and dicing screenplays to bring out the best in each story.  Five writers will be chosen for each workshop to present their scripts for analysis, with 10 spots reserved for participants who want to learn from this process by observing the transformation.

Each script will be scrutinized for concept, story, character, theme, style and script presentation. The writers will walk away with in-depth notes and recommended steps for further development.

$45,000 in Production Subsidies

Film and content makers looking for equipment or studio facilities can apply for the Metro Screen Jump Start production subsidy to help balance the production budget. Jump Start provides $45,000 worth of production subsidies over three application rounds each year. Broadcast quality equipment, the green screen studio and post-production facilities are made available to film and content makers at hugely discounted rates through Jump Start. The next application round closes Monday 1 April, 2013.

Metro Screen is a one-stop-shop industry development hub for creativity not profit. Funding, training, equipment and networking departments work full time to develop your vision in to screen content. This is a free event for people at all levels, to peak behind the curtain, have a sticky beak at the facilities and ask all the questions you like. Young Filmmakers Workshop Starts 22 Apr

The Grindr Guide

Local filmmaker and Metro Screen Designer, Damien Dunstan has released the first four webisodes of an eight-part series that explores how Sydney’s gay men are using Grindr. The web series, titled ‘The Grindr Guide’, follows the lives of five different Sydneysiders as they navigate their way through issues of race, body image and ageism while using the geo-based application. It’s a fantastic insight in to a world most of us don’t get to see.

Money Tree Festival Success

The short animation 'Money Tree' funded through the Metro Screen First Break program in 2011 has been selected for the Shepparton film festival in Victoria. The short is about an African boy who tries to escape poverty by planting an orchid of stolen money. Congratulations to Writer/Director Hawanatu Bangura and the Producers, Marlene Palmeiro and Leslie Marsh.
