Reflection

Lord Jesus,

I give you my hands - to do your work.
I give you my feet - to go your way.
I give you my eyes - to see as you do.
I give you my tongue - to speak your words.
I give you my mind - that you may think in me.
I give you my spirit - that you may pray in me.

Above all, I give you my heart that you may love, in me, your Father and all mankind.

I give you my whole self that you may grow in me, so that it is you, Lord Jesus, who live and work and pray in me.

Amen.

Greg's Message

Dear Parents and Friends of St Anne’s
Last Wednesday we held our first Open Day. Tours were conducted by our school captains, sports captains, Ms McDonnell, Mrs Parker and myself. Today we are holding another Open Day. Last Friday’s twilight sports was a great community event, with the Spirit of St Anne shining through. The children participated with great enthusiasm and cooperation. The decision to have the sports at “home” was the correct one. The atmosphere was electric; conversation and laughter aplenty, and fabulous entertainment provided by the stars of the show - our students. Thank you to our families for their wonderful support of this important event. (The barbecue was a big winner!).  I’d also like to acknowledge our staff who willingly organised and participated in the carnival. Don’t forget that term one concludes this Thursday at 1pm.

Assembly

Our final assembly for term 1 will have the Foundation/1 children presenting some of their learning.  All families welcome.

Permission form for Photograph, Medical and Incidental Incursions

We are approaching the end of term 1 and are stilll awaiting permission forms from families for photographs, medical and incidental incursions.  Please logon to skoolbag app to complete this form.

Boroondara Wildlife for Schools Biodiversity Project.

St Anne’s is very happy to be part of the Boroondara Wildlife for schools biodiversity Project. CERES is the coordinating organisation and the aim is to create wildlife friendly sustainable gardens in schools so that students connect to nature and linking to environmental curriculum outcomes.
The year 4 / 5 students at St Anne’s will have four incursions working on the garden design in collaboration with an expert that will advise and teach them about suitable plants. They will then have a hands on session involving planting and making the garden as well as advice and management for the best sustainable outcome.
We can’t wait for our next session.

Twilight Sports

On Friday 19th March  we had our 2021 Twilight Sports. Everyone had a great time running, snacking and chanting.  Thanks to all the parents who came along and supported all the kids. Also thank you parents for doing the sausage sizzle and treats. We also wanted to thank the teachers for making this year's Twilight Sports an amazing day at St Anne's. The sporting races included  hockey races, relay races, basketball, hurdles and many more fun activities. The races were a great success especially with the toddler and past students.
Congratulations to Purple House for winning. Everyone did a great job, well done Orange and Red House for giving their best shot.

Please watch some highlights from the evening.

Parents and Friends News

Mother's Day Dinner

SAVE THE DATE - THURSDAY 6th MAY 2021. Further details to come next week.

Easter Fundraiser

With the end of School term approaching, we are reaching the final stages of our Easter Fundraiser. Thank you to everyone who has ordered hot cross buns and/or made a donation. Your contribution is helping us reach our $1,000 target, which will pay for the Earth Science Incursion for the children in Term 2! We still need to raise a further $200 so any further donations will be gratefully accepted. There is also still time to enter the competition to guess the number of Easter eggs! All funds raised from this competition will also go towards the Incursion. Thank you to Lisa Hodgkinson who has absorbed a huge workload in relation to this fundraiser.

Hot Cross Bun orders can be picked up from the multipurpose hall foyer from 3:15pm today.

Term 1 Working Bee

We had a fantastic turnout of 20 families to the Term 1 working bee on Sunday 14 March 2019. In addition to being the best turn out in recent times, we were delighted that so many new parents got involved. Our thanks to Syl Longo for co-ordinating and to all who contributed in getting the school grounds into tip-top shape for our recent Open Days!

Twilight Sports

A hugely successful and enjoyable Twilight Sports was held last Friday. Of the 8 Twilight Sports I have attended as a parent, these were by far the best.  The children were fantastic - they competed with enthusiasm and good sportsmanship. Greg and the staff did a magnificent job setting up and supervising. Parent volunteers worked the very successful BBQ and Food stall (thank you!) and the school grounds were a beautiful setting. It was great to see such an enthusiastic crowd of parents, grandparents and past students present to encourage the children. The P&F raised $760 from the BBQ and Food stall and these funds will now be directed towards the $1000 required to purchase new tennis nets for the bat tennis courts. Thank you to Lisa Hodgkinson and Fiona Hamod for all their work planning and co-ordinating the BBQ and Food stall.

Seven New Chromebooks

The P&F was very pleased to be able to recently meet the $3,848.00 cost of seven new Chromebooks purchased by the School for use by the Foundation - Year 2 students. This has enabled our Year 5 & 6 students to each be issued with a Chromebook to take home each day and has freed up the School’s remaining Chromebooks for classroom use by our Year 3 & 4 students. The cost for these purchases was met by the P&F Bunnings BBQ we conducted in February 2020 (before COVID-19 restrictions) and the 2020 Easter Egg drive.

ST ANNE’S BASKETBALL CLUB

NEW PLAYERS WELCOME + BALL SKILLS PROGRAM!

St Anne’s Basketball Club is looking for more players to add to some of its existing teams and to potentially start new teams for Year 2 students.

We are also offering our Ball Skills program for new basketballers during Terms 2 and 3 of 2021.

Please speak to us if your child is keen to start basketball!

We are a family based club and have 17 teams comprised of mainly current and former St Anne’s students playing in the Basketball Hawthorn competition, ranging in age groups from Under 9’s to U23’s.  Games are played on Saturdays (and Sundays for older teams) at venues throughout Boroondara.

The Ball Skills sessions will run on Tuesday nights at 6pm at Kew East Primary School for the remaining weeks of Term 1 and then in Terms 2 and 3.  The aim of the sessions is for the children to be ready to commence playing in a team in the 2021/2022 Summer Season for SABC which starts in Term 4 (or in the Winter Season if they are currently in Year 2 or older) .  We welcome boys and girls to the sessions.

Once we know the level of interest we will provide more details.

Please register your interest by calling Tom Lynch SABC Boy’s Co-ordinator on 0418 813 773 or Sarah Lethlean Club Secretary (mother of Will in Year 4) on 0438 364 709 or by emailing secretary@stannesbc.com.au.

We are keen to hear from you, as we are currently taking registrations for the Winter Season!
