Click here Know Injury eNews February 2019Wheatbelt Workshop for Not for ProfitsOn Thursday, 21st February, Injury Matters visited Northam to facilitate a discussion with Not-For-Profits on how to work with Local Governments on Public Health Planning. The workshop focused on the value of not for profits and the contribution they make in the community, the requirements of local governments in public health planning, the benefits of local governments working with not for profits to address priorities and also covered engagement and partnership methods that can be adopted. Attendees were also provided with a Case Study of Learnings and Outcomes of Injury Matters recent work with the Town of East Fremantle. Striving For Safe Roads This EasterLocal Governments, emergency services and other members of the community road safety network have joined forces to organise formal Blessing of the Road events, ceremonies and other local activities to promote campaign messages in their community. The Blessing of the Roads campaign intends to build community support for the long term vision and actions to achieve zero deaths and serious injuries from road crashes. This year, the Easter long weekend runs from Friday, 19 April to Monday, 22 April. Campaign resources and tools can be found via the link below. Western Australia's 10 Year Strategy for Reducing Family and Domestic ViolenceThe State Government is seeking feedback on the draft vision statement, principles and goals for the 10 Year Strategy for Reducing Family and Domestic Violence. The proposed vision is a future where all Western Australians live free from family and domestic violence, and where women and children are safe respected, valued and treated as equals in private and public. To inform development of the Strategy, the Department of Communities is undertaking extensive consultation up until June 2019 and wants to hear from all Western Australians. 'Connecting the Dots' - Discover Connections Among Types of Violence: Toolkit and Online TrainingThe Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released a new tool that makes it easier to see links between different types of violence and helps to provide a clear understanding of these connections that can help with planning strategies to prevent multiple forms of violence occurring in communities. The tool makes it easier for you to connect the dots and explore the relationships between multiple types of violence and the risk and protective factors they share at each level of the social-ecological model (SEM). It also provides an understanding of these connections and can help you plan strategies to prevent multiple forms of violence at once and increase community safety and public health impact.
