January 28, 2021, is Data Privacy Day (known in Europe as Data Protection Day). An international event supported by over 50 countries, the purpose of Data Privacy Day is to raise awareness and promote privacy and data protection best practice.

In recognition of this special day and to mark the upcoming release of AMSRO’s new Privacy (Market and Social Research) Code 2021, AMSRO is pleased to present a free and exclusive Data Privacy Day presentation.

All members are invited to attend. Details follow.

DATA PRIVACY - PROTECTION, LAW AND RISKS

Research is highly reliant on the trust of the Australian community. If at any time that public trust is broken, negative consequences can affect an entire industry, damage the largest corporations and seriously harm an individual.  Working under Australia’s only registered industry APP Privacy Code (adjudicated by Australia's privacy regulator, the OAIC) AMSRO member employees collecting, disclosing and storing personal information should be aware of their responsibilities and the risks involved.

Key learnings:

  • What are the Australian Privacy Principles?
  • How can researchers mitigate risk?
  • Mitigating risk - The do’s and don’ts
  • What is a Notifiable Data Breach (NDB)?
  • What do I need to know about upcoming changes in privacy law?
  • Questions?

Who should attend:

  • Privacy Officers
  • Data Protection Officers
  • Research personnel responsible for overseeing a privacy management plan.
