Thank you for choosing Accrington and Rossendale College.

We wanted to get in touch and help you get ready for your Business journey - with aspirational statistics from your chosen sector, information about the many opportunities available to you at College, and details of some preparations you can make for College life. If you have any further questions, please contact our Admissions Team on admissions@nelson.ac.uk

  • The business sector is a fast-paced industry that works towards tight deadlines and could involve plenty of travelling for work
  • On average, starting salaries are between £20,000 and £35,000
  • There are nearly 6 million private sector businesses operating within the UK

There are many exciting roles and career opportunities within the Business sector. These include:

  • Business Advisor
  • Project Manager
  • Social Media Manager
  • Economist
  • Management Consultant
  • And many more!

Before you start in September, you should try to:

  • Read up on your course
  • Research your chosen subject
  • Look up the types of careers you may want to do
  • Find out more about the College’s designated Careers Zone - getting you ready for your future
  • Think about if you need any materials or equipment for your course - if you need more information let us know
  • What kind of extracurricular activities might you be interested in at College - you can view our extracurricular guide online and sign up at enrolment

Think about any questions you might want to ask your tutor at your New Student Event.

As part of your study programme, there will be the chance for trips, visits and guest speakers - a recent example being former NCC student James Osborne who inspired students on his return to College with his in-depth presentation on Morrisons supermarket, where he is a now a Management Degree Apprentice at the company’s head office.

Cameron Loads achieved Triple Distinction* before progressing to study Law at the University of York. He also took part in a work placement at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust to support his studies and the college’s plans for new T Level qualifications. Hear what Cameron and his employer had to say about his placement here.

We will be in touch soon to share more information about preparing for your course. We will also send you more details about our ‘virtual’ New Student Event and your enrolment. In the meantime, if you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact our Admissions team by emailing admissions@nelson.ac.uk
