LATEST NEWS CONCERT Member of the month: Verena Wu Verena Wu, Research Assistant, Ingham’s Psycho-oncology group is working hard to ensure that Chinese cancer patients are given the tools to overcome the linguistic and cultural barriers impeding their ability to access quality care. Raising the consumer and community voice The Cancer CAG Management Team has increased its consumer and community membership to three people. This recent change acknowledges the value of different perspectives and how lived experiences can strengthen the quality and relevance of health and medical research. Both models have distinct advantages and disadvantages with animal model testing generally still considered the gold standard for testing new cancer therapeutic approaches. Is this still the case? When: 7 September 2020 ABOUT USTCRN The Translational Cancer Research Network (TCRN) is a translational cancer research centre program funded by the Cancer Institute NSW and is a collaborative and interactive cancer research community based in the South East of Sydney, with links to cancer services and researchers in inner and southern Sydney, and Albury. It was formed to create an innovative and supportive environment for the translation of cancer research into improvements in patient care. CONCERT The Centre for Oncology Education, Research and Training (CONCERT) is a translational research centre program funded by the Cancer Insitute NSW. CONCERT exists to bring together the knowledge and expertise of cancer health professionals and researchers to facilitate translation of research generated evidence into practice to achieve better outcomes for those affected by cancer. Cancer CAG The Cancer Clinical Academic Group (Cancer CAG) brings together clinicians and researchers from three universities, four cancer services (with six major treatment facilities) and three Medical Research Institutes. Our combined research strength spans the translational medicine spectrum of bench to bedside and health service delivery.
