Proudly Presenting "Tartuffe: Born Again," Dec. 13-16

The Northwest School Theater Department presents Tartuffe: Born Again by Moliére, translated and adapted by playwright Freyda Thomas, and directed by theater teacher Ellen Graham. Performances take place on Dec. 13-15, at 7:00 pm, and Dec. 16, at 2:00 pm, in the Black Box Theatre.

Set in a televangelist studio in the 1980s (Scrunchies! Michael Jackson and Madonna! Reaganomics!), this adaptation of the classic Moliére comedy portrays Tartuffe as a former televangelist who tricks Orgon and his family out of their money and home. Come for the shoulder pads, stay for the modern verse and great comedic acting.

We also have a special curtain warmer of The Rehearsal, written by Frank Garland '16, inspired by Moliére's Rehearsal at Versailles. Set in The Northwest School and illuminating actor foibles, you are in for the treat of Frank Garland's wit.

Reservations are required and can be found here.

Winterfest is Back!

On Friday, Dec. 21, we are celebrating Winterfest, a day devoted to math and science! There will be no classes for any grade levels and students do not need to bring backpacks. Students and faculty will spend the day engaged in activities and demonstrations created by students in science and math classes. This is a required school day, and the regular school absence policy applies.

Middle school students should report to Morning Meeting as usual. The day will end around 2:30 pm. JV girls' basketball players still have practice at 3:40 pm. Contact Cecilia Tung with any questions about Winterfest.

Middle School Basketball Clinics

We would like to invite your students to join our Middle School Winter Basketball Clinics! The clinics will be led by Northwest Upper School basketball players and coaches. The clinics will focus on developing individual fundamentals in a team-oriented, encouraging, and fun environment. Students will participate in skill-building drills, individual competitions, and scrimmages. Participants will also receive a camp t-shirt.

Suggested fee is $40 (but is not required; please pay what you are able). This event is open to any students grades 5-8, including both Northwest and non-Northwest students, so please feel free to spread the word! Contact Britt Atack with any questions.

Juniors: PSAT Score Releases Dec. 12

The College Board will release PSAT scores to students beginning Dec.12. The College Office provided additional information about the score retrieval process to 11th grade students and parents/guardians via e-mail this week. More information will also be shared at 11th Grade College Night on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 7:00 pm, in the Commons.

Exchange Student Hosting Opportunity, Jan. 18-Feb. 9

The Northwest School will be hosting four exchange students from our partner school in Taiwan, Affiliated High School of National Chengchi University (AHSNCCU), and are looking for a homestay family from our community to host one of the male students.

Taiwanese students will come to Seattle on Jan. 18 and stay until Feb. 9. While at Northwest, students will audit classes and participate in various social activities at school.

If you are interested in this exciting opportunity or have any questions, please contact Director of Global Programs and Outreach Dmitry Sherbakov.

Thanks to All Who Joined for Holiday on the Hill

Thanks to everyone who participated in Holiday on the Hill. Exactly 100 titles of the faculty "wish list" books were purchased and donated to our library. We could not have done it without your help!

Thanks to neighborhood restaurants Barrio and Little Oddfellows, who generously provided delicious catering at a reduced price this year.

As always, an extra-special thanks to the invaluable help from our parent volunteers, who always make the event a big success.

Did you know that Elliott Bay provides credit to our library year-round? When our community members identify themselves at checkout, the store adds to the library's credit. Remember to let the cashier know you're with Northwest next time you shop!
