Young Filmmakers Workshop

11, 12 and 13 April

In three days the 21 students will learn the fundamentals of filmmaking all the way from script to screen. They will each have the opportunity to write, act, shoot, light, direct, edit, add soundtrack and produce one of the following:
• short film,
• theatrical trailer
• television commercial or
• behind-the-scenes documentary

Multi Media Game Creation

17, 18, 19 and 20 April

This 4-day workshop throws kids into the exciting world of Alternative Reality Games (ARG's). The participants will play an ARG designed just for them and learn about the famous ARG's (i love bees, why so serious, The Dharma Initiative etc) that have changed the media landscape. Then it will be time to get creative with the kids in groups creating their own ARG using Facebook, blogs, twitter, iPhone apps and even real world problems puzzles and clues.

FINAL CUT PRO 7 INTERMEDIATE

17, 19, 24 26 April, 1 and 3 May

Taught by a Metro Screen Apple Certified trainer this course covers the second half of Apple's FCP 101 training syllabus and is designed for those with a good basic knowledge of Final Cut Pro 7.  Participants will cover advanced editing functions, including titles, graphics, audio mixing, motion tools, multi-camera editing, filters, colour correction, grading and outputting formats.

CAMERA ESSENTIALS

21 April

Camera Essentials is the perfect introduction to camera operating and cinematography techniques. In this hands-on practical course, participants learn HD camera operating and lighting skills. Topics covered include framing, exposure, white balance as well as handling techniques, lighting set up and lay out and an overview of shooting formats. In order to maximise hands-on experience the course is limited to 12 places.

Enough Rope on the Road Giveaway

In Rainbow, Denton explores what lies beneath the surface of this wheat and sheep based town. Horse Talk TV

Horse Talk TV is a entertaining magazine style show on horses and horse riding and is the creation of producer, host and Metro Screen alumni Katie Hickson, a passionate horsewoman who had no previous training in Film or TV production. Horse Talk TV was a finalist in a Metro Screen Network pitching competition and Katie received advice from Metro Screen's Productions and Projects.
