Open Gardens West Coast - A Triple Treat in Perth Hills!

Three passionate gardeners have teamed up to provide a fabulous day out in the Perth Hills. Explore all three gardens (within a 15 minute drive), which encompass a full range of gardening interests and delights. Maps available at each location to help you find the next. Beef & Wine Paired Tasting evening

After the War - A talk by award-winning author Dr Leigh Straw

Saturday 17 November
Talk by Dr Leigh Straw, award-winning author of After the War: Returned Soldiers and the Mental and Physical Scars of WW1. Leigh’s book explores the lives of the soldiers after they returned home. Her interest in the topic was sparked by a family story that had remained hidden for decades; a story that reminds us of the psychological and physical legacies of war. While many accounts of WW1 commemorate the dead, we should also remember that of the 32,000 WA men who enlisted, 23,700 came home to resume civilian life. Talk commences 2pm.

Fundraising ride for MND, Prawn-Off and Markets - Chidlow Tavern

This event invites any social or charity motorbike club to join the Freedom Riders for a cruise though the Perth Hills to Chidlow Tavern, where they will compete in the Prawn Off. Cooking teams are capped at 3 people per team, with plenty of raffles and market stalls to entertain those not participating in the cook.

Mundaring District Museum - Made in Mundaring exhibition

Throughout November
This new temporary exhibition explores the many marvellous items that have been ‘Made in Mundaring’. From the granite slabs quarried at Mahogany Creek for the Perth GPO to the beautiful stained-glass windows made in Greenmount by Gowers & Brown, the range of building materials, foods, domestic objects, artworks, and inventions made locally is extraordinary. The labour and creativity of people in the past, and in the present, is acknowledged in the array of objects displayed, and in the stories of the individuals who made them. Museum open Mon-Sat 9.30am-4pm, Sun & public hols 10am-2.30pm.
