Greg's Message

Hello Parents and Friends of St. Anne’s
Welcome back to term 2. I hope that all families enjoyed their Easter break together. Many, many thanks to the families who supported us at our special working bee during the holidays. The removal and dispersal of the back court surface has saved the school a considerable amount of money; things are on track for the works to be completed after our dinner dance on June 15th.  Special thanks to Tony Taouk for organising the delivery and removal of the bin.

Before and After School Care
We have been advised by KEPS that the before and after school care program will not be running on Friday 26th April as Kew East Primary has a Curriculum day.

Year 3/4 AFL
A special year 3/4 AFL lightning premiership will be held this Friday 26th April at Gordon Barnard Reserve. We will be fielding a boys team and a girls team. All online permission forms must be returned by tomorrow. Participating students must be in the hall at 8:45am for a 9am departure. Students will be back at school at around 3pm.  Children are to wear their school sports uniform. Regarding footwear, children are to wear football boots or soccer boots or runners. Mouthguards, available from chemists, must be worn. Students are to bring along a backpack, snack, drink and lunch. Parents, if you can, come along and support the teams.

School uniform
We are currently in a uniform “transition” stage. Until Monday 13th May children may wear either summer or winter uniform. As from 13th May, students are required to wear their winter uniform.

Arrival to school
A reminder that children are supervised in the school yard from 8:30 onwards, and no children should be “dropped off” prior to this time. We do offer before school hours care from 7am at Kew East Primary school. Thank you.

Condolences
Our prayers and thoughts are with the Stamoulis family. Max’s grandmother (Alex’s mum) passed away during the holidays.

Easter is not magical. It is transcendent. Jesus is not somewhere else. Christ is everywhere—through him all creation holds together. He lives and breathes through his body, the Church.

What does it mean to live as Easter people? It means we live as a people, all parts of Christ’s Body working together toward a single purpose: love.

—Vinita Hampton Wright

Parents and Friends Association

Working Bee
Brilliant work was done by the generous parents, friends and students who attended the Working Bee on Saturday 6th April 2019. In just under 2 hours, the existing surface on the lower courts was removed and loaded, together with its rubber underlay and surface sand, onto a large bin. This required the surface to be cut into manageable pieces before being dragged and/or carried into the bin and plenty of sweeping and carting of sand and dirt. It was neither the easiest nor cleanest of projects but the enthusiasm of our helpers could not have been greater! It was another fantastic example of the commitment shown by members of the St Anne’s Community. A photo of our very small but committed crew is attached – Thanks so much! Our thanks must also go to Tony Taouk who organised the delivery and removal of the bin and co-ordinated the works on the day. We would not have achieved all we did without Tony’s energy and enthusiasm.

The next phase of our resurfacing project will involve repairs to the adjoining retaining wall and asphalt surface and once this is done, we can move onto the laying of the new surface. It is really important that everyone now gets behind the Dinner Dance so we can raise the funds necessary to complete this project. We look forward to your support and generosity in this regard.
