AAMC: The Road Less Traveled: Nontraditional Pathways to Medical School

Thursday, June 24, 11am-4pm

This fair, the second of three AAMC virtual medical school fairs slated for 2021, is specifically for applicants who have changed careers, are reapplying, or are overcoming obstacles in their application process to medical school. During the fair, attendees can:

  • Live chat with admissions staff;
  • Attend three informational sessions led by medical students, admissions staff and our own AAMC experts;
  • View yoga, guided meditations and reflective videos in our new Wellness Studio
  • Chat with current medical students in the OSR Medical Student Lounge.

Chats, materials and recordings of information sessions will be available for 30 days after the live event. All those who register, even those who register during the 30 days post-event, will receive a promo code for a discount on a 1 or 2-year MSAR subscription.

First Group Advising Session of the Semester

Ready to submit your letter set to AMCAS, AACOMAS, or AADSAS?

To submit your letter set to your primary application (medical and dental applicants) follow the instructions below:

1. Look for your cover letter in veCollect (cover letters are obtained by completing a comprehensive interview or making a request to a prehealth adviser)

2. Once all letters are present, lock your quiver

3. Add your CAS ID and Letter ID have been added to your veCollect profile

4. Request from your prehealth adviser that your letters be uploaded to your primary application

Gap Year Opportunity at Johns Hopkins

 

The Johns Hopkins Behavioral Pharmacology Research Unit located at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore is a unit that conducts clinical research related to substances of abuse (e.g. cannabis, opioids, cocaine). There may be opportunities for becoming a Research Program Coordinator at this unit, which entails working with human subjects and coordinating clinical trials. This is a great opportunity for individuals who want to take gap years and gain exposure to clinical research. The website for the unit is provided below, and it is recommended that interested individuals look through the website, find research/teams that look interesting, and contact the Principal Investigators via email asking about open positions.

Clinical Genomics Career Panel

Initially advertised by MAPS!

A multi-part, virtual panel series where undergraduate students, interns, and other interested learners can hear more about various careers in genomics. 

Genetic counselors can work in a variety of settings including clinic, research, and industry. During this webinar several genetic counselors from different backgrounds will discuss their experiences in the field of genetic counseling.
