The source of a Salmonella outbreak in Sweden has been traced to a brand of chocolate wafers from Poland.

2. Salmonella infections reported in Germany linked to poultry meat

Over twenty people have been confirmed sick from Salmonella infections linked to poultry. German officials are urging people to follow hygiene rules and be vigilant when handling raw meat.

3. Four years of EC monitoring of food fraud

New Food magazine highlights the importance of food fraud in the EU regulatory framework, and the monthly reports that come from the Joint Research Centre (JRC). Over 4 years of monitoring, mislabelling is the most frequently reported fraud type, and fish the most reported food category.

4. Poland takes action to reassure UK over poultry safety

Officials from Poland and the United Kingdom have met to discuss the safety of Polish poultry meat after it was linked to several Salmonella outbreaks in the UK and other European states in recent years.

5. EFSA experts advise ASF transmission in feed transport is low

According to a new scientific opinion from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the risk of African swine fever (ASF) virus transmission to non-affected regions of the European Union via feed, bedding materials and empty pig transport vehicles returning from affected areas is low but not zero.

6. Cucumbers possible source in E. coli outbreak in the UK

A UK E.coli 0157 outbreak has been linked to a fast food product containing imported cucumbers from The Netherlands. Thirty-six people have been affected.

7. New ASF outbreak reported in Inner Mongolia

29.04.2021. China. African Swine Fever

An outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) was reported by China's agriculture ministry in the northern region of Inner Mongolia on a farm. This is the tenth outbreak reported in 2021 so far.

9. Spray dryer blamed in 2017/18 Salmonella outbreak

The source of a Salmonella outbreak in Czech Republic and Slovakia in 2017 and 2018 was a piece of equipment used for drying liquid eggs into powder. The outbreak was traced to contaminated powdered egg products.
