Security at MMP

There is some confusion in the community about Council's decision to fence Munro Martin Parklands.

The new parklands will be open throughout the day and closed in the evenings.

By fencing the park, Council can protect against theft of plants and other items, improve safety as the gardens will be well screened from the street, and make it possible to hold ticketed events.

Council has not yet determined the opening hours for MMP, but it will be in line with other "curated" facilities such as the Cairns Botanic Gardens and Sugarworld Parklands.
